THE GATHERING

SCHÖNGEIST
With Schöngeist Timur Karakus has become the first German-speaking rock singer with Turkish roots who in 2006 has taken up the idea to unite, at least musically, the Orient with the West. A logical but perhaps also an overdue conclusion of his generation. At first it may sound like oriental rock but in fact his music is a soulful, progressive-modern kind of rock music that also incorporates a bit of gothic as well as industrial elements.

BACIO DI TOSCA
The dark-romantic music of Bacio di tosca fascinates above all with the manifold classical chant of Dörthe Flemming. Stilistically Bacio di Tosca is a recollection to the german Kunstlied (art song or lieder), popular during the romantic period. For instance Dörthe Flemming puts composers like Schubert and poets like Heinrich Heine, Mathias Claudius and Karoline von Günderrode in a new gloomy and melancholy dress. – „Bacio di Tosca – the voice of sadness“!.

Tibetréa
Like the outstretched branches of a tree, the songs of Tibetréa reach out in the same way; into the days of yore and unknown worlds. The sound that comes from a multitude of instruments, such as hurdy-gurdy; cittern; cornamuse; whistle; goblet drum; trumpet or harp is woven in with the beautiful voices of the two singers and is turned into music that touches the heart. The songs of Tibetréa are sometimes dream-like, sometimes captivating which makes sure that the listener can ‘see’ the raw and mysterious worlds from saga, legend and myth come to life.
